Class Discussion Preview (Sun., Aug. 8th) - "Temet Nosce"

Posted by on Friday, August 06, 2004 (CST)

When Neo goes to see the "Oracle" to find out if he really is "The One". She points the sign out to him and translates it to mean "know thyself". I thought we'd discuss, this Sunday, what we "know" about ourselves, whom we identify ourselves to be vs. what our identity in Christ should be.

Hey everyone!

No doubt you know where I'm pulling that quote from and if you don't, I'm sure you can make a pretty good guess :-)

I wanted to send this as quick heads-up on where we'll be taking the discussion in class this Sunday.  As you no doubt have guessed, that quote is from "The Matrix" (i.e. the first one) and it is when Neo goes to see the "Oracle" to find out if he really is "The One".  In the conversation she points the sign out to him and translates it from Latin to mean "know thyself".

So going from there, I thought we'd discuss, this Sunday, what we "know" about ourselves, whom we identify ourselves to be ... and all that good stuff; and then take a look at who we are supposed to be, what our identity in Christ is or should be etc.

Give this some thought and come to share those thoughts in class on Sunday.  Something that would be really nice is to identify those verses in the Bible that you think speak to how God sees us and thus, how we ought to see ourselves and from that what our identity really should be.  While you are at  it (or if you'd rather identify this), look up those that you think tell us a bit more about who Christ is, taking these from the angle that our identity as Christians is in Christ and are so formed by who Christ is.

Okay, I'll stop there for now ... I think you get the gist of it :-)  Look forward to seeing you all on Sunday.

Pax ...

Deji.

My initial exposure to RSB did not strike me as anything special or different but I really like their music now and seem to listen to this CD all the time. The CD will stand up not just to other Christian worship music but with anything out there in
